The graphs compare the number of men and women in full and part-time employment in Australia in 1973 and 1993. It can be clearly seen that the rate of men who have full-time jobs has slightly reduced over the period. In contrast, the number of men in part-time employment has considerably increased. The graphs also demonstrate a dramatic growth in number of young men who chose part-time jobs by 1993. Another major trend in men employment is a reduction in percentage of older people who have full-time jobs.

Figures for female employees show somewhat different picture. The graphs display a significant rise in the percentage of women in both types of employment. According to the graphs, part-time jobs remained much more popular with women than with men except for those people who are more than 60 years old. Full-time employment is more popular with males; more than 80% of men still have such type of employment at the age between 25 and 45 years, whereas the corresponding part of women never exceeds 55% during the period.
